Overview
Nasyam is an Ayurvedic therapy that involves the administration of herbal oils, powders, or other medicated substances through the nasal passages. It is considered to be an important part of Panchakarma, which is a comprehensive Ayurvedic detoxification and rejuvenation program. During a Nasyam treatment, the client lies on their back with their head tilted back. The therapist then administers a few drops of herbal oil or other medicated substances into each nostril using a dropper. The client is then instructed to inhale deeply, allowing the medicine to flow into the sinus cavities and nasal passages. Nasyam is believed to help balance the doshas, particularly Kapha and Vata, which are believed to be responsible for many health conditions. It is also thought to help clear the nasal passages, relieve sinus congestion, and improve breathing. In addition to its physical benefits, Nasyam is also believed to have a cleansing and rejuvenating effect on the mind and emotions. It is often used to treat conditions such as anxiety, depression, and stress. Nasyam can be performed as a standalone therapy or as part of a larger Ayurvedic treatment program. It is generally considered to be safe and effective when performed by a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner.
